40th birthday. One school in each area was selected to create an original tapestry, which had to depict the children’s view of the village. Ours was carefully planned using ideas from the children in each class. From the many designs they drew, we decided to base the tapestry on an aerial view of the village, including the features the children thought were important in their life in Lavendon – their homes, the school and church, the railway, meeting places such as the village hall and pubs and the surrounding fields. All the children contributed to the sewing and we were very proud of the finished tapestry. q
