In our report last month we touched on the
subject of ‘Operation Rebound MK’, and how
the scheme will be introduced into our area to
combat any form of anti-social behaviour.
Since our last report, we have been asked to provide our readers with further information on this on-going Thames Valley Police initiative.
Operation Rebound MK... What is it all about?... What are police doing?
As part of Operation Rebound, police will be carrying out high- visibility and under-cover patrols to catch people carrying out vandalism, or any form of anti-social behaviour. This means there’s much more chance of getting caught. It’s really not worth the risk – the consequences if you get caught are tough. Do offenders want police paying a visit to their parents for the sake of a smashed window or underage drinking?
Smashing a car wing mirror, kicking in a bus shelter, painting a bit of graffiti on a wall – you might think it doesn’t hurt anyone, but actually it makes people feel unsafe. And someone has to pay for the damage caused.
Police will be working with local authority youth services, pubwatch schemes and licensees, to help raise awareness of the consequences of getting a conviction, or being issued with a Yellow Card Warning.
This is the ‘Yellow Card Warning’ that will be given to young offenders who are stopped and warned for any form of anti-social behaviour. If the person is under 18, contact will be made with the offender’s parents or the person responsible for their care. K
