Letters
Dear Editor
I took this picture on Sunday 15th April. The new traffic lights on the crossing near the new school were causing confusion. Motorists were being cautious when red and green showed together but when they changed after about a minute, they went to red only. This left motorists scratching their heads and driving through the red light! There was no reason for the lights anyway because nobody was using the crossing.
I have more pictures taken as the
workforce tried to complete on time.
They gave up about 5.30pm and went home but it didn't look as if they had managed everything.

Dear Editor
I am writing to say a big thank you to the recent work of the Olney Chamber of Trade. There seems to be a new energetic force behind the chamber of late, raising the profile of our town with real commitment and enthusiasm. In particular, what a fantastic atmosphere on Easter Saturday with the organised egg hunt. It was lovely to see the town buzzing with children looking for clues and the easter bunny and chick bouncing around.
Dear Editor
May I thank you for publishing my letter regarding my search for members of the Lett family. Also thanks to the people who replied to my request.
I now have names of Letts living in Olney and district in the late 1700s at the same time that my great, great, great grandfather lived there. The next step is to find if these people are related, so this will involve a visit to Olney in the near future.
Once again, very many thanks for your help.
Dear Editor
I recently read your article in the March edition of Phonebox Magazine about the Newport Pagnell acoustic night.
I am a resident of Green Park with a young family and whilst the customers in the Kingfisher may have had a good night for the majority of us it was just another noisy night caused by the pub.
There is nothing like fireworks and bangers to wake up your young children at 10.45pm or even a member of the Urban Tribesmen outside with his acoustic drums to entertain the local youths. Maybe your reporter thought the authorities being evident exciting but then she doesn’t have to listen to the screaming and shouting and witness the under-age drinking most Friday nights.
Perhaps the next time the pub decides to hold such an event, as it is good that local bands are supported, it might show more consideration towards the residents on the estate so everyone can enjoy their evenings.
Well done and please keep it up. Congratulations to Paul Watson, Olney Mayor, who completed Meera Mehta, Cool and Collectable the London Marathon in 3 hours, 57 minutes, 54 seconds
