HAVE YOUR SAY
Letters
Dear Editor
I was saddened to hear that W.V. Turners & Son are going to close. In the 19 years I've been here I've constantly been unable to catch them out when after something for the house as they always seemed to stock exactly what I wanted.
They and the shop will be sadly missed.
Can someone reassure me however that the premises will not be taken over by yet another charity shop, antique/pine shop or estate agent!!
Simon King, Olney

Dear Editor
I am writing to you as a very privileged member of this community. I have the task of spending every Monday night, many weekends and even a full week in the summer, with a group of amazing people. I, along with two or three other like-minded people (all volunteers), facilitate what takes place at St John Cadets in Wellingborough Road, Olney. It takes up a huge amount of our time and at times we could do without some of the things that need to be done. However, the group of young people that give up their precious spare time and get off the sofa to come and join in with our varied activities and to develop their own personalities and lives, make it all worthwhile. It is so great to interact with these young people and to see all that they want, can and do achieve, and for my own satisfaction at being involved in that process.
Non members may be mistaken by thinking that we meet once a week and practice bandaging. It is not like that. Our meetings are incredibly varied and aim to promote learning and development in all areas of life through practical and fun activities.
This is a message to all current members and leaders, to say thanks for all you do to make St John such a great organisation to be a member of and for allowing me and all the other leaders to promote your personal development and to see the world of youth from a very positive aspect. Keep up all your hard work and please continue to be enthused by all around you. You are great!
Thanks.
