No need to book, just pop along.Cllr Debbie WhitworthWard Budget 25/26 I have divided equally my ward budget for 25/26 between the parishes who reached out to me for support in varying projects. The main criteria being that any funding requests are to be of benefit to the community as a whole and not something that would only be of benefit to a few individuals. After submitting applications to MKCC I%u2019m happy to say all five have been approved. I%u2019ll update you next month on what those projects are. Rumours regarding Fire Service Cuts There has sadly been a great deal of misinformation being circulated surrounding the proposed cuts to fire services and to two dormant stations. In regards to Great Missenden and Stokenchurch, it%u2019s true they%u2019ve not had a crew for many years, with Stokenchurch currently having one member of staff, and Great Missenden with zero. On the Bucks Fire website there%u2019s lots of information about these proposals: www.bucksfire.gov.uk/wp-content /uploads/2025/11/OIPConsultation-Proposal-Pack-V1.2-1.pdfAfter liaising with BFRS I can share below the facts for your information: In order for a fire engine to be available to respond to emergencies, there needs to be at least four members of staff, one with an Incident Command qualification, one with an Emergency Response Driving qualification, and two qualified Breathing Apparatus wearers. To put this in perspective, here at Olney we currently have:* Incident Command Qualified: 3 (One more due to start Jan 2026, and one more due to be qualified Feb 2026)* Emergency Response Driver:4 (Plus an additional 2 who are Incident command Qualified)* Breathing Apparatus Wearers: 11 (Inclusive of those who have Incident Command and Emergency Response Driver qualifications)So you can see the difference between a fire station such as Olney, which has a relatively healthy crew model, and that of Stokenchurch and Great Missenden. On speaking with our crew commander in regards to the impact this will have on us in Olney currently, none of the proposals have a direct effect and there are no plans to remove/change our fire engine, which for a local level is really positive. However, the Community Risk Management Plan, which governs most things Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service do in regards to fire engines and fire stations runs from 2025 to 2030 in the current version, and does state in summary, %u201cduring the period of this CRMP we will aim to uphold an average response time of 10 minutes. This means the first pump will reach the scene within an average of 10 minutes for all incidents.%u201cThroughout the CRMP%u2019s duration, we will assess the required number of On-Call pumps to align with our new response standard and address identified risks within the CRMP.%u201d The CRMP can be found here: www.bucksfire.gov.uk/public-plans/community-risk-management-plan/I advise all residents if you wish to give feedback and have your say please visit this link (the deadline is 28th January 2026): www.bucksfire.gov.uk/public-plans/on-call-improvement-programme-consultation-2025/The Olney crew routinely provides an emergency response to our surrounding rural areas and also into Milton Keynes and I%u2019d like to thank the Commander and crew for everything they do to serve and protect our communities, you are all hugely appreciated. %u2018Thank You%u2019I%u2019d like to finish my ward report off this month by wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year and may 2026 be kind to you all.
