The Norse men and women would celebrate Yule on 21st December while the ancient Romans called in Saturnalia, a fest dedicated to the God of Agriculture, Saturn.Christmas has also long been seen as a time to celebrate children by giving them gifts without it appearing that they were being spoiled. And that tradition continues, in part, today. So you can thank the Romans when you get some toys this Christmas.
