36 Phonebox Magazine | September 2025I want to begin this month by saying a huge congratulations to all of the brilliant students across the constituency who have received their results this summer. It has been fantastic to see so many success stories from local schools. Whatever your grades, you should be incredibly proud of the hard work you%u2019ve put in. Completing these exams is a massive achievement in itself, and I wish you the very best as you take your next steps. It has also been a jam-packed summer here in the constituency. I%u2019ve really enjoyed being out and about, speaking to residents at local events, and celebrating everything that makes our community special. One of the highlights has been the Lionesses%u2019 success on the European stage. To be crowned champions once again is a huge achievement and a proud moment for the whole country. For us locally, it feels particularly special because the team is captained by Leah Williamson, who grew up in Newport Pagnell. Her success is something the whole community can take pride in and shows the next generation of young footballers what%u2019s possible with hard work and dedication. Women%u2019s football has grown massively in recent years, and the Lionesses%u2019 victory shows just how far the game has come. Stadium MK played its part when it hosted matches during the last European Championships, and we should continue to build on that legacy. The momentum around the women%u2019s game is inspiring, and it%u2019s vital that young players here in Milton Keynes have the opportunities and facilities to take part. We have also celebrated an important local milestone this summer, with Emberton Country Park marking its 60th anniversary. The celebrations, organised by Milton Keynes City Council, was a brilliant way to bring people together to commemorate a space that has been loved by generations. Emberton is more than just a park. For many residents, it%u2019s somewhere to walk, exercise, meet friends, or spend time with family. As Milton Keynes grows, these green spaces become even more valuable. Another highlight has been the Newport Pagnell Carnival, which once again brought so many people from across the town together. From the fl oats to the fairground, to the food and the music, the Carnival had something for everyone. It%u2019s always one of the best weekends of the year, and it was fantastic to see so many people out enjoying it. Events like the Carnival don%u2019t happen without a huge amount of work behind the scenes. The Carnival Committee deserve real thanks for all the time and eff ort they put in, alongside the many volunteers who helped to make it such a success. Community events like this create lasting memories and help to strengthen the bonds between us, which is why they are so important. When you put these moments together, they each tell a story about our community. National sporting success that connects directly to our local town, a much-loved green space that%u2019s been part of our lives for decades, and a carnival that brings people together year after year. As your Member of Parliament, it%u2019s always a privilege to join these celebrations, but also to listen to the issues that matter most to you when we meet. Whether it%u2019s concerns about the cost of living, protecting our environment, supporting local services, or making sure young people have opportunities for the future, these are the conversations I%u2019ll continue to take with me into Parliament. This summer has shown, once again, what can be achieved when we come together. From national success on the world stage, to the celebration of our much-loved green spaces, to local traditions that bring people together. They highlight the pride and sense of belonging that run through our constituency, as well as the creativity Chris CurtisMP for Milton Keynes Northand inclusiveness that people here show time and again. This spirit is alive and well here in our constituency, and it%u2019s something I am so proud to represent. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making this summer such a memorable one. I look forward to building on this momentum as we head into the months ahead. As always, please follow my Facebook page (@ChrisCurtisLabour) for frequent news and updates from both Westminster and our constituency.
