Newport Pagnell Town Football Club
Two good wins in the FA Vase, a 3-2 win away at Daventry Town followed by a 2-1 home win over Broad elds United, from Harrow, have earned Newport Pagnell a third round match at home to London Colney on
Saturday 3rd December. With Newport Pagnell unbeaten in their last 11 league and cup matches and London Colney currently leading the Premier Division of the South Midlands League this promises to be a match worth seeing.
Since I last wrote, in addition to the excellent FA Vase results, Newport Pagnell Town have taken 10 league points out of a possible 12 and won their Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy quarter- nal.
It took a late winning goal by Paul Edgeworth to decide a close match at Daventry in the rst round of the FA Vase. In the second round Newport scored early against Broad elds United and looked the better team but they let the visitors back into the match in the second half. Newport missed several good scoring opportunities but Dom Lawless nally took one of the many chances and scored a few minutes from the end to give Newport the win that they deserved.
The Mayor of Newport Pagnell, Derek Eastman, was the club’s guest for the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy quarter- nal and he was treated to an entertaining and successful match. Newport outplayed their opponents from Burnham and progressed to the semi- nals with a comfortable 4-1 win.
The only points dropped in recent league matches were in a 1-1 draw at Willen Road against a good Deeping Rangers team that has won 10 of its last 12 league matches and is unbeaten in the

Annual Awards Dinner
The popular Summer Club Tournament awards were presented at the Annual Dinner held at the Courtyard in Olney. Stefanie Price, whose Wealth Management Service sponsors the Tournaments, helped present the
awards with Club Chairman Simon Barter. There were additional awards give to Liz Brewster for most improved Lady; Gary Morgan for most improved Gentleman; Tim Ball who was the club member recognised for his great contribution in the last year and Ruth and Stuart Ayling were also recognised for the excellent all round contribution to the club.
Dinner guests were welcomed by wonderful music by Jonathon Heron, then after the meal the awards were presented, followed by games.
The November American tournament sponsored by Stefanie Price Wealth Planning was held on a beautifully sunny day and the highlight was the debut of young Maddie Murphy who played with great skill and enthusiasm and was presented with an award. The nal was won by Simon Barter and Lynda Baker against Katie Bennett and Wesley Greenwood who was supported by his beautiful new daughter!
The next event is on New Year’s Day at 1pm – always a fun
and sobering experience! Sign up in the Clubhouse or to the Aylings.
The clubhouse is currently being developed to offer better viewing and internal facilities and should be completed by Christmas. A hard standing outside area will then be created. In team news, sponsored by Stephen Oakley Estate Agents, the Mixed C gained an excellent draw against Great Linford A. Lynda Baker, Anne Bacon, Philip Ramos and Tim Ball battled hard against the wind as well as the opposition to secure their rst point.
The Mixed B came up against a strong Buckingham side and narrowly lost 3-5 despite strong debuts by Charlotte Quarrie and Caroline El-Oun who were supported by Simon Barter and Chris Wright.
The Mixed E lost against an experienced David Lloyd side with Olney represented by Andrew Barr, Nick Hardy, Jacqui Thorn and Nicola Norbury.
With club developments, the clubhouse will be refurbished in November/December and a new outside area created in January, giving us a great facility and the club’s signi cant investment means it is well set up for the next ten years. Now’s the time to get back on court or start playing tennis at our friendly club and we have been pleased to welcome new players. You can join any of our club sessions, play in teams or just play with friends. There are no court or light fees and lots of bene ts. Welcome to all the new members who have joined lately!
