Eclipse Counselling Service
“When our thoughts, at times, wander into darkness... remember we are human and have been imbued with free will to choose the light.” – Christopher Earle
As founder David Blyth says “We want people to feel free that they can come and talk to us. Over the past fteen years I have worked with hundreds of families at Eclipse and, as a result, wrote ‘A Parent’s Worst Nightmare’ which forms the basis of our Support Group and is used in our campaign to empower parents and families in their ght against the abuse of drugs and alcohol”.
The Support Group has already helped many:
“I just wanted to drop a line to say thank you to Eclipse and David for the last 6/7 weeks of parent support sessions. It has been an invaluable lifeline for us at a very dif cult time of our life trying to deal with a teenage son who is addicted to drugs.”
“David’s book, together with the support group, has literally changed my life and consequently our family life. It made me look deep into myself for what I truly value and hold dear. It gave me the con dence to believe in myself, that I am not a bad person. I have not gone wrong with my son; HE has chosen the wrong path but with the support of
Much has been written about the hell parent’s nd themselves in when they have to watch their child slowly slip away right
before their eyes with no one to talk to and having to come to terms with the fact that their world has been shattered.
Finding out your child is abusing drugs can be a parent’s worst nightmare. Who do you go to when you are searching for help after your once smiling, enthusiastic child changes into someone you hardly recognise . . . the face now surly and the behaviour apathetic and morose through an addiction to drugs? Abusing drugs and alcohol causes immense tension in a family. Whilst the effects of abuse on the person using the drug can appear more obvious, very often the impact on those who love and care for them are not always considered. Parents/family and friends often feel powerless to help those who are struggling with the problems of drugs; it can be hard to accept the situation but,
sometimes harder to have the courage to ask for help.
“Everybody needs help sometimes, we’re just too frightened to ask” David Blyth, Eclipse Counselling Service.
