Reducing overgrown trees and undergrowth
The Newport Pagnell Focus team have followed up on residents’ concerns and got Milton Keynes Council to reduce a large amount of undergrowth and diseased trees from parts of Newport Pagnell.
The trees and undergrowth have either been removed or reduced to make it easier for residents to use pathways and to protect them from danger.
Replacement of Defective Bollards
Following many accidents in Newport Pagnell on some of the major roads throughout the town, the Focus Team has successfully pushed to get the defective traffic island bollards replaced. In fact Milton Keynes Council’s highway department are in the process of replacing ALL of the bollards with the new reflective type which illuminate when car headlights shine on them. They also bend over if a car should hit them. This makes the new bollards maintenance free.
Plan:MK
Milton Keynes Council is currently working on its strategic plan for the future growth of Milton Keynes called the Plan:MK. It will set out the vision and development strategy for the whole of the borough for the next 15 years or so. The Council is current consulting on the Strategic Development Directions stage until the 6th April 2016. There are four options being consulted on:
1. Development to the west, south west and/or east of the city. 2. Development east of the M1.
3. One or more satellite settlements in the rural area.
4. Intensification and redevelopment in the urban area.

The Commission is set to engage and explore what it means to make a great city greater; discussing what factors could affect Milton Keynes over the coming decades and the possible future scenarios that could be created when thinking about those drivers. The Commission will report in the summer. For more information visit their website at www.mkfutures2050.com.
