Sherington CE School
The return to school for the autumn term has been marked by enthusiasm, a few tears but overall joy at being with friends after the summer break and welcoming our new reception cohort. The
gift of a home-grown (by ex pupil Stevie Beal) pumpkin reminded us of the changing season, belied by the generally fine and warm weather that allowed us to enjoy outdoor play a little longer.
The excellent hot meal service provided by Olney Academy has been a new venture for the school ably implemented through the preparatory efforts of Claire Lawrence our Administrator, Sue Temple our Lunch-time Supervisor and new recruit to the team Ms Janet Abra from Olney.
The Return to School
Emberton School
It was a busy end of summer term for the Emberton Tigers! Thankfully the weather has been very kind this year and
allowed all our outdoor events to go ahead without a hitch! Cheers were heard all around at Sports Day as the children jumped over hurdles, threw beanbags, balanced eggs on spoons, stepped through hoops and skipped down the tracks. Well Done the Red team for winning this year’s team races and to all the mums, dads and toddlers who also joined in!
Mrs Humphreys led our final Forest School session where children and parents shared the excitement and mystery of the “Magnificent Barefoot Walk” - exploring their sense of touch with their feet in the same way that animals learn about their environment! We learned about taking responsibility and looking out for each other with
children climbing trees with a “tree buddy” and practised our team work with den building and making pots of summer scents to attract butterflies.
Our parents enjoyed the opportunity to watch maypole dancing and then share their children’s work at our Open Afternoon; and also attended our annual Leavers Assembly where our Year 2 children talked about their memories of Emberton School, what they will miss and what they are looking forward to at Middle School. They were presented with beautiful books from the school and special T-shirts from FOES.
If you would like your child to attend a small rural school, contact us on 01234 711518 or just come along to our next Open Morning on Thursday 23rd October from 9.30am to 11.30am, we look forward to seeing you!
