Nerves not an Issue
It’s been a busy time at Olney Infant Academy as they’ve welcomed their new Foundation classes. Children were excited to meet with their teachers and new
classmates after the long summer holidays. There’s not been much time for nerves, with plenty of outdoors to keep the children happy and engaged.
Foundation has their own covered, outdoor learning area and the new starters have been busying themselves playing in the maths huts, Splash Zone, sand-pit and make-believe areas. All of the children love the playground Pirate Ship, Wild-life area (with pond!) and even their own Quiet Area (complete with painted pergola, bunting, benches and tables).
The new kitchen and free school meals continue to be a success and the clubs have started, and the school is proud to have launched pupils’ future careers as musicians can be proud to have launched pupils’ careers as: mini musicians (recorder, cello, French horn and violin); future sports superstars (tennis club and soccer academy); gardeners, kitted out in their wellies (garden bugs); designers (sewing club) and language experts (Spanish and French).

The enchanting tales of children’s author Nick Butterworth are inspiring learning for all 27 children at School this Autumn
term. Butterworth’s famous character ‘Percy the Park Keeper’ is the springboard for work across all 3 year groups from the Busy Bees in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Year 2.
The 6 Busy Bees enjoyed a fun ramble around the village as part of the topic during the very first week of term, whilst the Learning Ladybirds are combining mini projects within the topic with reading, writing, arithmetic and exciting new computer work based on the new curriculum recently introduced.
The Learning Ladybirds are really looking forward to their own ‘park-keeping’ activities when they take part in a fantastic ‘Forest School’ event for a day in Salcey Forest. The Forest School gives pupils a brilliant chance to get really hands-on and mucky in the forest, den-building, using hacksaws and making their own campfire for toast under the woodland canopy!
