Newport Pagnell tneWI IN IRING EN In June we had our usual stall at Strawberry Fair, selling plants and home made cakes and preserves. This year the weather was better and crowds of people descended upon the Youth Club playing field to enjoy the sun and the entertainment. forgettoleaveroomforthecakesandthe chocolate-coated strawberries! Everyone enjoyed a really good chat and it was getting quite late (and a bit chilly) when we finally started to clear up and wend our way home. Thanks to our enthusiastic ladies, we had an enormous number of cakes and managed to sell them all by the end of the afternoon. The raffle this month was won by Julie Allen and Celia Boyer. Competition winners were Sharon Moyle, Barbara Hilton and Julie Allen. The fuchsias proved very popular once again and plant sales wentvery well, with not too much left to take home. Everyone had a good time, and our thanks go to all those who contributed to a successful day. Newport Pagnell Women s Institute meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Royal British Legion Club, and is always delighted to welcome new members. On 13th August we have a talk on Arctophillia - Teddy Bears to you. Early in July we held our annual Social Evening, when 15 ladies gathered in a member's garden to hold an American Supper.
