Philip Smith had a queue of people as long as your arm at his book signing at Sherington Village Hall on Tuesday 9th July. His long awaited book "A little Bird Told Me....." is a unique look at a way of life which has almost disappeared, covering the years from the 30s to the present day. Packed full of fascinating anecdotes, characters and events, Philip's own voice recalls with humour and affection an era where toffee apples, horses and thatching were the hot topics. The chairman of the Historical Association, Mark Vale said, "It was good to see so many desperate to get their hands on this personal collection of memories". Celebrated local raconteur, Philip, often known locally as "the Mayor of Sherington" has lived for more than 80 years in the village. Herespondedtothechallengeof local journalist and editor, Gerald Stratton, who said, "Don't talk about it, get on and write it!" A packed village hall was pleased that he did just that.
