Folk-Rock pioneers Fairport Convention are set to play a rare London club date as part of their current UK tour. The legendary band will present a mix of brand new songs and reworkings of their classic repertoire at The Borderline on Friday 10th May.
Formed in 1967’s ‘Summer of Love’, Oxfordshire-based Fairport has been delighting audiences around the world for almost 50 years. One of the most enduring groups to emerge from the fertile 1960s music scene and hailed as the originators of British Folk-Rock music, Fairport Convention is still as vibrant and inventive as ever. This tour will feature material from the recent critically-acclaimed
album Festival Bell as well as a selection of favourite songs and tunes specially chosen in a poll of the band’s fans.
The semi-acoustic show at The Borderline will feature a lighter and more intimate feel than Fairport’s usual theatre sets. The line-up will feature the full band: Simon Nicol (vocals, guitar), Dave Pegg (bass guitar), Ric Sanders (violin), Chris Leslie (mandolin, fiddle, vocals) and Gerry Conway (percussion). “We always enjoy our London gigs – it is home territory for us,” said founder member Simon Nicol. “In fact, The Borderline is one of our favourite venues and we particularly look forward to playing there again on Friday May 10th.”
