NEWPORT PAGNELL COUNCILLOR CORNER
As I was writing this I was hoping the A509 London Road resurfacing would be complete. Unfortunately that is not the case. MK Council got it wrong and failed to appreciate the amount of work involved. Newport Pagnell councillors have raised this serious failure with the Council. The Latest information is that it might not be finished until 2014/15. This is extremely disappointing considering the bad state of the road and its essential route to the M1.
Nobby Newport’s last signal post
In May last year I wrote to say that Nobby’s signal post was in serious decay and I had asked MK Council to repair it. As plans progressed to repair it the signal post decided it had had enough and started to lean at a precarious angle due to serious rot below ground level. The post had to be removed for safety reasons. However, with hard work and dedication from Council Officer Robbie Caddock and the Fix-It Team, the signal post was rededicated on the 30th March. Robbie worked hard to find the funding from heritage funds and the cost of repair did not fall on the council tax-payers. New signal arms were procured and attached and the post should now stand proud for many more decades. A new plaque has also been provided. Leaning signal post being removed

New MKC Ward Boundaries confirmed
The Boundaries Commission recently released its draft report on the new ward boundaries for Milton Keynes. Both the Newport Pagnell wards have been revised. Newport Pagnell North joins with Hanslope Park and becomes Newport Pagnell North and Hanslope. This new ward also includes Stoke Goldington, Gayhurst and Redhouse Park. Newport Pagnell South ward remains as Newport Pagnell South but now incorporates Blakelands and Giffard Park. The dividing line between the new wards runs down the middle of both Wolverton Road and the High Street. A smaller consultation was carried out until the 18th March and the results of this later consultation are awaited but it is believed this will only lead to minor alterations.
Do you need a salt bin ??
As we approach summer the idea of salt bins will, hopefully, recede into some hot days. However, now is the time to start thinking if your location needs one to enable us to take action to see if a salt bin can be installed before next winter. Newport Pagnell ward councillors were successful in getting three additional salt bins installed before the last winter snow set in. If you believe you need one in your location then please write to us at the e-mail address below.

And Finally
Tesco Newport Pagnell – Tesco announced recently that the development of their new store on Tickford Street is being put back to 2014, possibly 2015. This news will no doubt be received with a mixture of emotions. Revised bus services - The cuts to the bus services as part of the Conservative Administration’s budget for 2013/14 has been put back to early June. We have already received comments from some concerned residents that the changes will mean they will not be able to get buses home from work. We would like to hear from you if you have any views on the new services, or you can write to Milton Keynes Council.
Driveway Parking Scheme - Well done the Phonebox for the excellent April fool joke about cars being parked on private drives. Judging by the number of telephone calls it did have some residents fooled.
