OLNEY ROAD LAVENDON
Here is the full list of candidates:
How you can help
You may have noticed that on the Olney Road in Lavendon a restriction has been put in place as pictured. The reason for this is that the culvert under the road has been identified as being weak after inspection following the flooding in the July. The restriction is designed to reduce the maximum weight that the culvert may take at any one time and make sure this is in the centre of the road where it is the strongest. These restrictions are temporary while a new culvert is designed and preparations are made for construction.

This is a national appeal, initiated by people who wanted to donate their annual Winter Fuel Payment to support elderly and vulnerable people who are less fortunate than themselves. In Milton Keynes the Community Foundation are urging local over 60s who receive, but donʼt rely on the payment, to donate it, but this is also a wider appeal to everyone, to give whatever they can afford, to help old and vulnerable people to “Survive Winter”.
When construction works start the Olney Road will have to be closed for a period of up to 10 weeks which is likely to start early in the New Year. The culvert will be increased significantly in size to allow for further drainage capacity in the future These works will cause disruption and ways to reduce this are being planned for as much as is possible. We have asked that a pedestrian access is maintained across the stream so that people can still access both sides on foot. A number of contingency plans will need to be put in place and we will keep residents informed both in this column and letters when necessary. A chance to question officers on this subject will arise at a public meeting when the flood report is discussed. This date will also be notified when it is available.
Is a free event being held at the stadium:mk on Friday November 23rd, the MK DONS Sports and Education Trust have linked up with the Milton Keynes Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board and partners in putting on an inclusive event to promote positive messages linked to health and wellbeing, also to signpost the many opportunities in and around MK to support healthy lifestyle choices for adding years to life and life to years.
Working together can help local people to stay safe and warm, eat well and remain mobile this winter. Last yearʼs appeal helped over 2,500 vulnerable and older people, providing warm clothing, emergency food and shelter. If you would like to donate this year please call 01908 690 276 or visit the website: www.mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk or visit localgiving.com/charity/survivingwintermk where you can donate on line.

VOTE FOR YOUR POLICE & CRIME COMMISSIONER
We have mentioned the elections of the Police and Crime Commissioner before in this column and soon it will be upon us. November 15th is Election Day when every elector in Thames Valley will get the chance to vote for a person to run the Police force, currently run by the Police Authority, as well as coordinate an entire range of other crime fighting initiatives that are currently run by local councils. At the close of nominations six candidates had fulfilled the criteria to stand for election. The candidates are listed below. The polling cards will soon be arriving with you and the voting system used is not the first pass the post system that has been used in the past. The polling officer will be able to tell you how the system used in these elections works and for postal votes the instructions that come with the postal votes should help. Postal votes will be issued, as normal, if you are registered for one on a permanent basis. If you need a postal vote or have any further questions about the process please call the elections team at Milton Keynes council on 01908 691691 and ask for the elections team.
