now’s the time for tennis!
new summer tennis programme
Now spring is here, come down to Olney Tennis Club and enjoy good tennis at a great venue and join the 300+ members of a very sociable and friendly club. There are coaching sessions for all ages and standards, club sessions when you can just turn up and play with who’s there, lots of teams for the competitive players and social events throughout the year. Juniors from four upwards can join the most successful development programme in the region. You can also book your own court online. sessions. Featuring this
summer is Toddler tennis,
held indoors for children two
1⁄2 to four years of age. Also
Cardio Tennis, which is
tennis based fitness class.
You don’t need to be able to
play tennis, just have the motivation to chase a ball and burn some calories. And finally Tennis Xpress which is a six week, 12 hour course for complete beginners who have always wanted to play. The course cost is only £24!!

but were brought down to earth with a 2-6 defeat against Woburn Sands despite the efforts of Craig Mackellar, Ross Urqhuart, Jo Weatherill and Ruth Froom. The A team are also fighting to stay up (Katie Bennett and Eleanor Carter and Daniel Cornwell and Nigel Willard v Stony Stratford). The E team have been blooding new players so all can have a go at competitive play (see team photo v Buckingham of Karen Wright, Steve Day, Jo Bedward and Marc Hallam).

This is proving very popular. Details can be found on www.olneytennis.net. There is a wide range of Junior coaching from three years upwards with lots of opportunity to advance through skill stages. For Adults there are New to Tennis and Rusty Racket courses which are always popular and sociable. Have a go!

Easter camps
The B team is fighting to stay up in its division and recorded their best result of the season with a vital 8-0 defeat on Woburn Sands A thanks to Chris Wright, Simon Barter, Anne Foulkes and Sarah Wilkinson. The C team are safe in their division and drew a well fought match against Silverstone 4-4. Olney’s team was Anne Bacon, Lynda Baker, Andrew Barr and Phil Bennett. The F team have been flying high in their first
American tournaments
Olney tennis club popular tennis camps are back. On every day of the school holidays the club are hosting events for schools year r/f to three, another camp for schools year four and five and a final camp for schools year six+. The latest event was a success and two new entrants. The final was won by Ted Barnes and Lynn Quennell against Simon Barter and Jo Bedward.
