£200 from the Freemasons boosted a grant of £3,000 from the Souter Foundation. Private donations and a very generous legacy have now brought the total to just over £5,000, the sum we were asked for in order to carry out the project. Huge smiles both here and in Newton! We will keep you posted on progress.
On the subject of fitness we would like to thank Adam Palmer of Milton Keynes for bravely running the MK Half Marathon in the snow and the rain and raising £145 for us. I see a lot of runners in Olney – please bear us in mind for a bit of sponsorship.
We have also had news of the students at the Skills Training Centre. We understand they have successfully completed Level 1 of their computer studies course and are beginning Level 2 which is Windows. We are continuing to support these students and are hoping to develop the Training Centre’s carpentry department in the

Our next major event will be the return of ANDANTE, the popular choir from MK, to Sutcliff Baptist Church on Saturday May 12th. Definitely not to be missed!
Tour committee have lots in store for 19 ladies going on tour to Hunstanton in May.
The story of the clash between Rameses II of Egypt and the Hittite Empire in Syria. The speaker will use images from Egyptian temples and other sources to illustrate the diplomatic actions of the warring nations.

Olney Infant Academy have recently sent a carton of skipping ropes, balls and racquets to their Link school in Newton. The photograph shows some of the Olney children with the equipment before it was shipped out. We would also like to thank Olney Football Club for a donation of kit which has also been despatched this week. There will be an increase in fitness in Newton village over the coming months!

OLHC are very proud winners on Division 2, with three games still to play!! So far winning 13 matches and drawing two. Scoring 70 goals and conceding 12. Promotion to Division 1 next season.

The club have enjoyed lots of hockey this season and with the addition of new goal keeper Laura Davies, who is happy to fill in for Cath Woods. Skipper Jenny Harris and Vice Steph Young have kept everyone happy fielding strong teams and everyone getting plenty of hockey.
