Looking ahead to Easter:
Why all the fuss about Easter?
Come and find out for yourself - this year we will be showing ‘Jesus’ the most viewed film in history, seen literally by billions of people across the world in their own languages (over 1120 translations!). It is estimated that more than 200 million people have made the decision to find out more about following Jesus Christ after watching it since its first

Mothering Sunday at St Peter and St Paul is going to embrace the mothering instinct which is in each of us, man and woman alike, says the Rector of Olney, the Rev Claire Wood.
In a recent interview, the Rev Wood explained that the church wanted to celebrate the mothering and nurturing instinct, as embodied in Christ.
“It’s not only biological mothers who can be caring and loving, who can release people into being their best selves and fulfil their life in the community. Any person of any age or either sex can do that.
“So often we try to legalise to give people equality and parity but that doesn’t always work. It is when we allow the compassionate, nurturing principle in ourselves to come to the fore that we begin to value one another as equals, and to set each other free to be the people God intended us to be. The church needs to support this nature of mothering and to promote it wherever it can.
“So, on March 18th , Mothering Sunday, we are going to celebrate all those mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, godparents, grandparents, family friends and others who care for and nurture others, all the carers in our society, all those who give time and love and support to others, all those who are “mothers” in the way God meant us all to be.
2nd Scout Troop opens in Olney
We’re delighted - Olney Scouts are growing in numbers!
At the start of term, a 2nd Scout Troop – the Weston Troop was formed. There are now 2 troops – Clifton and Weston, with nearly 40 scouts.
With 5 new leaders currently going through their training and warranting – it’s an exciting time for the group.
Recent activities have seen the Scouts become budding watercolour painters under the expert tuition of local artist David Purvis. It’s another part of the Bronze Arts Award, the troops are currently trialling as part of a national scouting pilot.
Next month we hope to stage an exhibition and workshop to show them off! Look out for our posters around town.
