Turvey
Pre-
school
News
2012 is now in full swing and so, too, is Turvey Preschool. Already this year, our children have enjoyed a raft of activities, from making bird feeders for the local wildlife to learning about Chinese New Year.
We are lucky enough to have Taiwanese mum, Kaiti, living in Turvey and she came into preschool to share her delicious Chinese food with us. The hawthorn slice went down particularly well! She also played a Chinese instrument the zither for us, as well as bringing in traditional costumes for the children to try on. But the highlight for many of our pre-schoolers was learning the Dragon dance.
Role-play continues to prove very popular with our children who are an imaginative bunch. So far we’ve been to the vets, looked after babies and the preschool has even been over-run by noisy pirates!
However, these pirates were particularly friendly (not at all like Captain Hook) and we were impressed at how health-conscious they were too, insisting on making and eating a winter warming vegetable soup. They also busied themselves learning how to build ships, make telescopes, read maps and sing lively pirate songs.
2012 is going to be an exciting year for Turvey Preschool. After the Royal Wedding celebrations last year proved such a hit, the teaching team are planning how the preschool will mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June. Preparations are in motion to host a tea party / street party.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the preschool for their kind help. To run smoothly we rely on volunteers, such as dads to help with DIY and people who give up their time to come in and read to the children, and we are very grateful.
Similarly, a big thank-you to all of you that attended and exhibited at our extremely successful pre-Christmas Shopping and Pamper night in the Village Hall. We raised an impressive £500+. Please look out for our upcoming events such as the Sponsored Toddle Waddle on Saturday 10 March and the Summer BBQ and Barn Dance on 7th July in the Village Hall.
supposed to be a repercussion from Tuesday whilst he was patiently waiting outside the Co-op to park his scooter and the mother of the swearer was just leaving - Jack didn’t open his mouth.
So it goes on. He fights on verbally when neccessary, but they will break him - he spends a lot of money in Olney and he should be given a medal for even attempting to come, never mind this harrasment and bullying.
This must STOP NOW. Great Britain is still a free country.
Healthwise Jack has severe arthritis in his hands, legs, shoulders, body and each upset causes angina and breathlessness. To the people who cause this, playtime is over. Respect for the elderly is now the name of the game.

Dear Sir
Dear Phonebox
During the last couple of Veteran Games, Kevin Lucken took a
penalty and scored. It has been asked, at 45, is this a record for the club? If it is, I think it should be marked by a plaque
in the club bar, or a cup or medal for a younger player to win. Kev is as
enthusiastic and dedicated today as he was when he first started. I think
it will be a long while before his boots are hung up. Is it a record? A
penalty scored at 45? Any one out there know?
Re Jack Wooding
I have known him since August 2009 and all I have heard is the constan bullying, harrasment and generally upsetting him by certain people of Olney who should know better.
For a man in his 80s to be forced out of the town he was born in and moved to Emberton where he has a 2 mile each way journey on a mobility scooter in all weathers, to anonymous phone calls late at night threatening him, last year and being accused of all sorts of things by people who should know better. He even had a bus driver bully him the first year at Emberton, but I nipped that in the bud and he had an apology from ‘Arriva’. It turned out the driver had lived in Olney at sometime.
A letter was sent to Olney Town council last Autumn and I was prepared to go to a meeting but it was going to be handed on to NAG so as not to cause embarrasment to certain parties. We have so far been fairly free of trouble until last Thursday February 16th when a female swore and cursed him roundly outside the Nat West Bank - witnessed by the book seller (Big Issue) who told her off.
