Small School... BIG Achievements! News from Emberton School
Happy New year everyone! what a busy time we have had lately! we had a great Sports afternoon with our year 6 friends from Olney Middle School and were then delighted to be invited to watch their Christmas play where we were thrilled to see our leavers from previous years. The New year brings more shared activities starting with Book Club and Library time for our year 2 children as part of their transition to middle school.
we had a great time on our park’s Trust “Crafty Christmas” morning at Campbell park where we collected natural outdoor craft materials and then brought them back to the classroom to make beautiful Christmas decorations.
The children of emberton, Sherington, and St andrews shared a wonderfully crafty “Take One picture Day” where they enjoyed shared learning based on the painting “Still Life with Drinking Horn by willem Kalf”. In the new year we will begin our new tri-school Creative partnership project with many exciting activities planned.
The children acted and sung their hearts out at our Christmas performance of “Jesus’ Christmas party”. It was great to show so
many families what their children are truly capable of and we were also proud to show some of our prospective families what they can look forward to in future years!
everyone had a fantastic time at our Christmas party with entertainment
from the Great Gappo and a visit from Father Christmas! Special thanks to John from the Bell and Bear for providing our locally sourced, organic and delicious Christmas lunch and to FOeS for funding this special day.
we made iced biscuits, glittered pine cones and glittery spirals as decorations for the emberton Christmas Tree Festival in the church. The great “switch on” was truly fabulous!
It was lovely to have lots of parents and children in the church for our annual Carol
Concert where
we read out our
Christmas Gift Ideas and
poems and performed some
of the songs
from our festive performance “Jesus’
Christmas
party” along
with a few old favourites for everyone to join in.
we said a fond farewell to student teacher Miss emily James at the end of this term and have now welcomed Miss Kristy Burgoine, both of whom are studying for their B ed degrees.
we still have places available for September 2012 so if you would like your child to attend a rural school with small class sizes please contact us on 01234 711518 and we would be delighted to show you around.
we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff, volunteers, governors, parents and friends of emberton School who together have worked so hard in 2011 to make this school a success. Thank you all.
