‘We’re In The Pink’ is your local cancer support group for ladies that have or are suffering from Breast Cancer. We offer support to the ladies themselves and family members to ensure that we can offer the best advice and support. We are made up of sufferers, nurses, family members and friends. Our aim is to help ladies to understand the best ways to deal with this condition, which are either personal conversations and advice from a breast cancer support nurse, meeting other people with the same condition to talk things through or financial assistance in order to help with transport, bras, wigs or nights out of enjoyment.
We have regular monthly meetings – Last Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Carlton House Club in Olney.
These meetings normally incorporate something
different, such as reflexology, yoga or pamper nights.
Please feel free to attend and come along for a chat, nibbles and something to drink. We are a very friendly caring bunch and it does help to speak with others about how you feel or how to deal with things during this hard time.
The group was originally set up by Susan Steadman (breast cancer support nurse) and Pauline Jay. Since the first meeting, eight months ago, Pauline has passed away. Her daughter, Sarah Shears, is now involved as she understands that her mother’s wishes would be for the group to become a success. We also have assistance from Deborah Brackenby and Jayne Clarke. All of these ladies are more than happy to be contacted to discuss the group on the numbers given.
We’re In The Pink would like to thank many people for their support of this group and in no particular order they are the The Carlton House Club, sponsors of Mark and Sarah for their parachute jump to raise funds (£780), Phonebox, the local community for their contribution at the Dickens of a Christmas day. The ladies and partners had a hot drinks stall, name the dog and dolly (donated by Darwins of Olney) and the kids (Connor, Corah, Courtney, Daisy, Becky, Melissa and Megan) ran the kids tombola and Peter Jay (use of his house and electricity). The group raised over £650 on the day.
