Group Study Exchange
‘SAFF’– SYDNEY AUSTRALIA FOR FREE !!!
ThE ROTARY CLUB of Newport Pagnell is searching for four suitable candidates to participate in the Rotary Group Study Exchange educational programme.
The criteria for applicants is not complicated, and suitable persons – male and female – are required to be young, employed professionals between the ages of 25 and 40. As the exchange is also a ‘single’ vocational project within the ‘Media’ industry, applicants need to be involved with radio, television, newspapers/ magazines, IT or other occupation connected with Media – however loosely!
The exchange is of four weeks duration in March 2012, and the outgoing team will be based in Sydney, Australia. The only cost to successful applicants is personal spending money. The whole exchange visit including flights, appropriate transport both in the UK and Australia, accommodation and associated costs is covered by Rotary International making the trip effectively free of charge.
The Group Study Exchange (GSE) programme is managed by Rotary International, and in recent years the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell, along with the Bucks, Beds and herts Rotary District 1260 has been instrumental in sending GSE teams to Canada, Australia (Melbourne), Brazil, Argentina, USA (New Orleans, Texas) South Korea, Taiwan and Japan – to name but a few.
Teams of four are accompanied by a Rotarian Team Leader, and suitable accommodation – usually with Rotary families - is provided in the nominated city or district. Members of the GSE team experience a structured, disciplined – but flexible - programme which enables them to be involved in the social and vocational customs and cultures of the country being visited. The current incoming GSE team from New Orleans recently visited the Newport Pagnell Club to give their final presentation before returning home to the USA, and the picture shows them at The Swan Revived Hotel.
