New wool shop opens in Olney
Ana Sánchez-Forner, a passionate designer, knitter and spinner has opened the wool shop at 18 High Street, Olney.
‘Walking through the lovely streets of Olney I realised this was the perfect place for a wool shop’ says Ana, ‘talking to people I found out there used to be one a few years ago and people really missed it, so when I found some premises available by the Age UK shop I thought the opportunity was there for me to take it and make the wool shop a focus for the local yarn community.’
‘We stock an impressive range of colours and yarn, from some of the best known brands such as Debbie Bliss, Katia, Noro, Louisa Harding and others to some yarn exclusive to our shop.’
‘People who knit and crochet appreciate receiving gifts related to their hobby. We have beautiful glass knitting needles, plus hand-spun and hand-dyed yarn from local textile artists that would make a perfect present for your favourite knitter. If you want to give them the choice of gift we also offer vouchers.’
‘Our philosophy is to inspire and encourage creativity within a community friendly environment, so with this purpose we run classes and clubs and stock a good supply of books and magazines for sale and for reference as well as the necessary tools for crochet and knitting.’
‘We would like to invite local crafters to our knit and natter clubs or just to drop by and spend some time working on the round table, particularly useful if you’re doing something new or if you just want some company whilst you work.’
‘At certain times we cater for specific groups like children, teenagers, mum & little ones, full-time workers etc. This latter group will be pleased to know we are open until 18:00 most days, and some days even later. I’m also planning some more structured workshops where we will explore different techniques. You can find details of these clubs and workshops and full opening hours on our website: www.the-wool-shop.com.’
‘Whatever you choose you will be sure to receive a warm and friendly welcome at the wool shop in Olney.’
