Welcome Tina!
After a number of years of reducing numbers and a general sangrin affecting the club, it became ovbious that a real effort to attract new members was needed if our group were to avoid the teminal affliction which had hit many local groups in the two towns in recent times. Over the past three years, a lot of
work has been carried out by the members to
raise our profile in the hope of attracting new
faces and we are delighted that this is now
beginning to pay off. The past 18 months has
seen 4 new members join our Pride with our
most recent member, Tina Brydon being
inducted into the organisation at a short
ceremony conducted by Lion President John
Ferris. We look forward to her having a long
and enjoyable association with Lions Clubs
International and already we have seen her
In welcoming Tina to her membership of the largest Service Organisation in the World, John said “It is great to have Tina join the group and we hope that she will be a catalyst which will encourage other residents in the area to become involved in Lions. Whether as a full member or one of our new ‘friends of the Lions’, the more people we can call on when we want to organize events or carry out community activities, the more value we are able to contribute to the area where we live.”
Well Done Rod!
At the same meeting, one of our long serving members, Rod Wayland received his 25 years chevron recognising a quarter of a century membership of Lions Clubs International. The chevron, worn under his Lions Badge may be small in size but it does recognise a massive achievement of 25 years service to others. As well as the chevron, Rod received a letter signed by the International President congratulating him on his length of Lions service. Chevrons are awarded at various milestones in a member’s time with Lions and we look forward to Tina receiving one in the years ahead.

Craft Fayres (more about that next month) & Motorama whilst helping the organisers of events including those who made Newport Pagnell Bridges Centenary and Olney Fireworks Display such successes. Oh, and we also have quite an enjoyable social calendar too.

After a magical Christmas the children and staff at Emberton School are welcoming in the New Year with our Toys theme when we will be looking at how toys have changed over the years and ‘sharing our favourites with one another. Then for our Winter topic we will be exploring the patterns and changes in the season including learning about animals that are suited to Winter conditions.
Just before Christmas children of Emberton, Sherington, and St Andrews got together for a wonderful “Angels Day” to complete our Creative Partnership work on the theme of “Tobias and the Angel”. The children spent a few happy hours busy making angel crafts and enjoyed sharing time with children from other schools.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas party with entertainment from the Great Gappo and a visit from Father Christmas! Special thanks to John from the Bell and Bear for providing our locally sourced, organic and delicious FOES Christmas lunch in the Institute.
It was lovely to have lots of parents and
