Olney Middle School –
Cross Country Champions
In the recent Primary Schools District cross country championships at the Milton Keynes Bowl, Olney Middle School had one of their most successful competitions ever, finishing as Overall champions for the first time under the current format of the competition. A team of 24 children were among 559 pupils from 35 Milton Keynes primary schools who ran in the four races. the conditions were quite challenging after the autumn rain, but they all worked very hard to complete the course, happy but very muddy!
In the Junior Girls (pupils aged 8-10 from Years 4 & 5) category, the runners complete a 1000m circuit of the Bowl. eve came 3rd and rosie finished 17th (both Year 5), while the team finished in 4th place overall.

In 1st place
was Ollie (Year 5), who beat two runners from Portfields in an extremely close finish. Joe (Year 4) came 6th, Jamie (Year 5) was 15th and the rest of the Olney Junior Boys ran so well that the team finished in 3rd place.
the Senior Girls (pupils aged 10- 11 in Year 6) complete the same circuit as the Junior Boys. In this race, Laney finished 5th, with tara in 16th and the whole team came 3rd overall.

the Bowl. In a very close race, Ollie came 3rd behind runners from heronsgate and Willen. Other racers in the top twenty were James M in 5th and James V in 15th. this meant that in the team competition, the positions were reversed with Olney 1st and Willen and heronsgate in joint 2nd.
As a result of all the children’s efforts, Olney won both the Large Schools and the Overall School trophies – only 2 points ahead of both Portfields and two Mile Ash who drew for second place. A huge thank you to all those family members that supported them and well done to all the children and staff that made the success possible – we are very proud of all of you!
