Dear Editor
Come dine with
us for autism
A couple from Turvey hosted a fundraising dinner on Saturday 15th May to raise money for The National Autistic Society (NAS), the UK’s leading charity for people affected by autism.
The evening was one of the many fundraising events that Angelo and Janine Valerio have organised since January. The pair have surpassed their original target of £3,000 and to date they have raised over £6,500 for the charity. They hope to raise further funds up until the end of July and after they have cycled from London to Paris on 5th - 8th June.
The event proved extremely popular and was sponsored by Brunetti's Italian Restaurant and La Rondine Master Confectioners in Bedford - 70 tickets were sold in just 24 hours! Guests enjoyed a reception of bucks fizz and a four course dinner at Brunetti’s
restaurant. This was followed by a raffle and auction, including prizes generously donated by local businesses and football shirts signed by Frank Lampard and Alex Ferguson.
Janine said “I know from personal experience how autism affects people's lives, as our six year old son Robbie has autism. The evening was a fantastic way to raise both vital funds and create more awareness of the condition. We are delighted to have raised so much money for such a deserving cause and can't wait for the London to Paris bike ride.”
Rebecca Bohling, NAS Head of events said “Autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition. Without the right support it can have a profound effect on individuals. By raising such a tremendous amount Angelo and Janine are helping the National Autistic Society to continue to provide that support.”

On Sunday 30th May my husband and I were visiting Olney and happened to be in the Co-op / Stanley Court car park when my husband was taken ill. An ambulance was called and he was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital. I would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to stop and help me at such a difficult time. In particular the lady from the Factory Shoe Shop who was so kind and helpful, the man who stayed and supported me until the ambulance came, Gayle who helped make our car safe, and of course the paramedics, together with the ambulance and hospital staff whose kindness, efficiency and professionalism was outstanding.
I am so grateful for the help and kindness shown to me that I feel I can't say a big enough 'thank you' to all who came forward to help me.
Sheila Fraser
PS. I am pleased to say that my husband is well and out of hospital.
