Michael Farrer Award 2010
This year was the 20th Anniversary of the Michael Farrer Award competition. The topic was ‘The Environment and Global Warming’ and we were delighted that so many children entered and produced
work of such a high standard. Entries ranged from models and paintings to stories and inventions! The winners were George Murphy (the Sole Transmitter, a device which generates electricity while you
walk) and Elijah Garrod (a model of the effects of global warming – floods in Africa). Entries from Amber Jeffcoate, Liam MacManus, Bryony Pike, Emily-Mae Cousins, Thomas Griffiths, Emily Smith and Ronnie Willcox were Highly Commended.
The school would like to thank the British Legion for sponsoring the event, for judging and presenting the
prizes (Mr Blomfield, Mr Burgess and
Mr May), and for their generous
donation of a little gift for all the children.
Visit to school by Milton Keynes Music Service Roadshow
Milton Keynes Music Service entertained the whole school with their recent Roadshow. Children and staff
really enjoyed listening to the various musical pieces they played and had lots of questions to ask the musicians. One of the children in Class 4 was asked to conduct the performance on his own, which he did very competently.
Visit to the Derngate
Due to bad weather conditions in early January we had to cancel our theatre visit to see the pantomime Snow White, so at the beginning of April everyone in school went to the Derngate Theatre to see Snow White on Ice. The children were amazed at the performance and enjoyed the visit very much.
London Marathon
On 25th April Gill Puddefoot, School Bursar, took part in the London Marathon raising an amazing £3,500 for Asthma UK. She ran exceptionally well and completed the race in 5 hours 4 minutes which was a fantastic result for her. At the start of the race the weather
was cloudy with some rain and the finish on the Mall was in brilliant sunshine.
Gill is pictured here with her medal. We are all very proud of her achievement.
