It’s not just about spinning on your head!
Dancevybz School Principal, Steff Massey has been dancing herself for many years, and after winning the UK IDTA National Championships five years in succession, qualifying as an IDTA Dance Teacher and with a love for Street Dance
decided to share her passion within the local village community. Dancevybz Street Dance School was born!
Who would have thought that very first class in Sharnbroook in June 2006 would have today led to 18 classes a week boasting approx 200 students (including adults, oh yes there’s no escape mums and dads!). The classes range from age four in the Cheeky Monkeys Group, through beginners and intermediate classes for teenagers and adults. There are more advanced classes in Competiton Dancing and students can audition to join a Hip Hop Crew or Team to compete at World Championship Level. Street Dance is not the only thing on offer, lessons in Disco and Rock and Roll are also available and coming soon will be gymnastics coaching to help dancers improve at competition level. Not bad for a village club eh?
Our most recent accolade was the amazing successes Dancevybz had in April at the IDO 2009 Street Dance World Championship Qualifiers. Nineteen local dancers aged from 9 through to 15 have successfully qualified to represent England and compete in the IDO World Championship in Poland in September 2009. This local club is so much more than just coming along to learn to dance and have fun but building confidence and competing at the highest level possible.
We are hoping, over the coming months, to form business partnerships with local companies and have already started the ball rolling with our sponsorship deals, adding a couple of logos onto our England Crew Sweatshirts. Sponsors will also receive their logo and contact details on our literature and website. If any local company or individual sponsor out there would be interested in helping to sponsor our England Squad or just find out more about us, we would love to hear from you.
