Abusy month locally with the Easter Recess offering an excellent proposed Tescos on the former Aston Martin site. My own view is
opportunity to escape the clutches of Westminster and spend
some time in the constituency. The mini mobile surgery attracted record numbers of people and the full version which will involve a visit to every village in North Bucks will return late September.
Apart from that the month seems to have been dominated by a series of public meetings:
Newport Pagnell – Tescos Application

clear, I feel that such an application would have a major detrimental impact on existing retailers in the town who are already struggling with the current economic climate let alone the impact it would have on traffic entering the town. Whilst planning is a devolved issue and dealt with by Milton Keynes Council and as such I play no formal role in the process, I will along with many others be adding my voice to the growing opposition to the application which I now understand is likely to come before the planning committee in June 2009.

Castlethorpe – A508
The annual Parish meeting in Castlethorpe was well attended and yet again concerns over the junction of the A508 and Yardley Road dominated proceedings. The problem seems to be that with the junction just being literally yards into Northamptonshire neither council seems to want to take responsibility for this dangerous junction. With the help of Cllr Andrew Geary, we have now successfully got a commitment of part funding for a feasibility study from Milton Keynes and together with my Northants colleague Tim Boswell MP, I am now desperately trying to get Northants County Council to match it. Whilst frustrated at the delay, I am confident that after several years of trying we are finally making some progress.
