Down at last!
The Wedding of Philip Carr and Marika Leo
Philip and Marika who live in Carlton were married at the Puhavaimu Kirik (Holy Spirit
Church) in Tallinn Estonia on 6th March.
They married in the Anglican
Church in Tallinn, which is also
the Royal Navy’s Church in
Estonia. Among the ancient
wood paintings of bible stories
and the huge and massively
Gothic pulpit there are memorials
to the British Naval heroes of the
Estonian War of Independence
and those who protected the
Artic and North Atlantic convoys
in the Second World War. The
White Ensign is disaplyed with pride and affection in this ancient Estonian church.
Attended by their many friends from Carlton and Harrold and Marika's family and friends from Estonia and Russia, the wedding reception in an Old Town hotel was a happy melting pot with plenty of fun and games and lots of Vodka.
At one point the bride was kidnapped and held to ransom! The Groom and Best Man were then honour-bound to auction their cufflinks and other accessories to raise the money for her safe return.
The cobbled and snow coated Old Town of Tallinn with its stunning mediaeval Anglican Church made a perfect fairy tale setting for their wedding.
