OLNEY MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSSING
Plans are being consulted on to install a Puffin Crossing at Olney Middle School and a temporary road closure order has been applied for on Yardley Road (outside the Middle School) during the school half term week. It looks finally as if concerns have been listened to – well done to two parents and Olney Town Councillors Della Cheal and Rachael Passé who have campaigned tirelessly on this matter.
RAVENSTONE
The Village has recently been consulted on kerbing works, path way upgrading and road strengthening proposals. It has been important to ensure that residents have felt included in such decisions and to
strike the right balance between maintenance and preserving the rural nature of the village.
Central Networks are also designing a new scheme for the village upgrade which will include some under grounding
works, more expensive than the initial scheme; this should be implemented in 2010 and could make a significant improvement to certain areas of this beautiful village.
SAD NEWS
Sadly we have seen the funeral of Olney’s Town Clerk, Pat Slaney, who had so bravely fought against cancer for the past two years probably without many people even knowing. Pat was an absolute professional in her job and managed to remain at work throughout nearly all her illness. She was generous with her time and concern in all matters to do with Olney and a huge support to turn to for help and advice. We’ll miss you Pat and you’d no doubt join us all in congratulating Sandra Grummit, deputy clerk for her recent C.I.L.C.A award for local council administration. K
