A word from the new Chairman of Olney Chamber of
Trade, Kim Durden of Davis Optometrists.
John Perkins has handed me the reins, thank you John for all your hard work. I’m very pleased to know
that you and the rest of the committee are all
staying on. This year is going to be busy and I’m
looking forward to it.
In these challenging times it is vital that the Chamber of Trade supports its members. It must publicise local business and encourage the residents of Olney and the surrounding district to take advantage of the knowledge, services and products available on their doorstep. Who needs
to go to Milton Keynes, pay the parking
fees and share the shops with all those
people when you can get nearly everything in Olney.

On October 15th at 7.30pm the Olney Fashion Show will serve as a shop window for local companies. Day, Evening and Under wear will be on show and glamorous accessories. Tickets are on sale so get them NOW, last year was a Sell Out! Some of the proceeds will be supporting a local Charity, the Olney-Newton link.
Soon our thoughts must look towards Christmas! I think Olney looks fantastic in December, but have you ever wondered where all those pretty Christmas trees with their twinkling fairy lights come from? Every Year the Chamber of Trade is responsible for buying the trees, wrapping them with fairy lights and erecting them on the flagpoles outside nearly 100 local businesses and houses. It’s quite a task and a willing work party gives up a weekend putting them up and another one taking them down. I think it’s worth all the effort, I hope you do too!
