Access a success at Milton Keynes Theatre and Gallery
Milton Keynes Theatre and Gallery held a joint access evening on Tuesday 19th August which was a brilliant success. Theatre
and Gallery staff welcomed over 30 people into the Theatre foyer to hear speeches by Michael Stanley, Director of Milton Keynes Gallery, and John Young, General Manager of the Theatre. The group was given tours of both venues by Jodie Gibson, Education & Outreach Manager of the theatre and Natalie Walton, Head of Education at the Gallery. Visitors gained a special insight into the work and
current access facilities of the theatre and gallery.
One of the main focuses of this evening was the recruitment of members to a Disability Access Steering Group, which will meet quarterly and advise Milton Keynes Theatre and Gallery on how to continually improve their facilities for deaf and disabled visitors or those with access

The Bells, The Bells
The 20th August saw a significant milestone in the life of the Church of St Peter & St Paul in Olney, the town of Olney itself and the Olney Bells Project in particular. The eight bells which had been lowered to the floor of the church during Monday and Tuesday and which had not left the church since 1931, yesterday left the town after been loaded onto a lorry for transportation to the workshops of Whites of Appleton and then onwards for tuning at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. Our thanks go to Duncan Rogers at Projector Lifting and to Colin Jamieson for providing the transport as a donation to the project. For those with internet access to sound and video there are two sources of news:
G ITV Anglia News visited on Monday 18th and there is a news item of just over two minutes on their evening broadcast for Tuesday 19th. Go to www.itvlocal.com/anglia and choose local news. Then choose the Anglia Tonight West option for Tuesday 19th August. The item starts 17 minutes and 50 seconds into the 30 minute broadcast.
G BBC Three Counties Radio visited on Tuesday 19th, took photographs and interviewed me. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/local radio and choose the faith section in the left hand menu. Double click on the article entitled 'Olney loses its familiar ring' and then double click on 'Ian Pearce watches as the bells are removed' for the 7 minute 35 second interview.
