Olney-based charity Advantage Africa found
shoppers still generous despite the credit
crunch during a day of bag packing at
Sainsbury’s in Milton Keynes Food Centre on 9th August.
Twenty volunteers, aged from five to sixty-nine, and including a Ph.D student, a mum of seven and a Catholic nun helped on the day.
Shoppers donated £432 towards the charity’s work among people disadvantaged by poverty, disability and AIDS in Kenya and Uganda.
Advantage Africa’s Director Andrew Betts said: “A little money goes a long way in Africa and people living in poverty there are affected by the rise in food prices much more than we are here. With £400, our partner organisation in Kenya can feed 60 orphans for a whole month. We are so grateful to everyone who has volunteered and donated.”
