HAVE YOUR SAY
Letters
Dear Ms Brock
I read your Petsoe Windfarm article in Phonebox Magazine with interest. Below is the text of an email that I sent to the Milton Keynes Citizen recently:
Begin
"You might like to ask the MK Planning Authority as to why they have apparently ignored the extremely dangerous airborne infrasound generated by windfarms and given planning consent. And they cannot claim ignorance, since they have known since 2006!
A little background on infrasound:
Infrasound
Infrasound is ultra low frequency sound not audible to the human ear. However its effects are devastating. Infrasound causes nausea, headaches and, most seriously, internal bleeding in human beings. The Russians experimented with infrasound during the Cold War and caused mayhem when they beamed it towards the Finnish seaboard. Windfarms and Infrasound
The Laws of Physics define that all windfarms (like other slow rotating machinery) generate airborne infrasound. A windfarm is a collection of very large blades all rotating in perfect synchronism. Each wind turbine generates a pressurisation/rarefaction wavefront in the air. Since the windturbines (in the windfarm) are physically separated and each wavefront travels at the speed of sound (340 metres per second) their combination creates infrasound.
Infrasound travels miles, is totally inaudible and a significant health hazard to humans.
Infrasound by any other name
The wind turbine industry is choosing to keep Planning Authorities in the dark about the potential dangers of airborne infrasound by using the term aerodynamic modulation to euphemistically describe the infrasound noise generated by wind turbines."
End
I guess the windfarm providers are quaking in their boots hoping that no Planning Authority ever demands "Please provide an airborne infrasound level contour map for your proposed windfarm.”
And, I am still waiting for the Milton Keynes Planning Authority to answer the question:
“Why they have apparently ignored the extremely dangerous airborne infrasound generated by windfarms and given Petsoe planning consent.”
Kind Regards Les Birt
