Children from the Newport Pagnell and surrounding villages are well served with facilities at Tickford Park School; they can come to the Surestart Children’s Centre for play sessions, crafts, story times or music from birth.
Parents are able to obtain advice on many parenting issues at the drop-in sessions.
From two and a half they can attend River Meadow pre school, whose 2006 Ofsted report said “Provides excellent care and education.” Here they can take part in many varied activities including cooking, crafts, computers, all
the traditional toys or
use the secure
outside play area.
River Meadow also
provides the
breakfast club and
after school club for
4-11 year olds
attending the school.
These facilities
provide a complete
care package for the
child which ensures
them a seamless
progression through

Olney WI
Olney WI has found a cure to chase away the winter blues. At February’s meeting the members were given a real tonic of music, fancy dress, laughter and good old fashioned fun.
We welcomed to The Olney Centre the town’s local boy band! ’The Bolivian Sunshine Dogs’.
The boys were sassy, quirky, eccentric entertainers and musicians. Their instrumental skills ranged from playing the Sousaphone to the spoons and washboard. One of the boys was so taken with a member of the WI that he got down on one knee and serenaded her whereupon both, carried away in the moment, delivered us a beautiful duet. An eclectic mixture of tunes influenced by George Formby, Lonnie Donegan, Amy Winehouse and Horlicks! Led to a comical performance of some very well known numbers.
The band is available for anywhere else that needs a laugh. We the ladies of Olney WI can highly recommend them. Let’s hope the boys do not become too famous to return to us in the future.
