Dear Editor
I was delighted to hear that Doff's Field situation has now been settled and to a fine end I have to say. It is in my opinion the absolute best result. Olney should thank Roy, Ann and Duncan for giving the opportunity for this excellant future facility.
Doff's Field could without the forward thinking of Roy have quite easily have been lost for the future youngsters. The Mason family purchasing when they did safe guarded it. I know that there were issues and many people were upset by events but the future does look good for Doff's Field.
I know that I am many miles away, 13,500 to be approx, but I do still think about Olney and how things are. You can take the girl out of Olney but you can never take Olney out of the girl.
May I wish Olney Rugby Club every success for the future and that the new facilities make you an even bigger club to beat. Thank you Roy, the negotiations were never easy. Thank you to John Sharp because I left you with the problem and skipped the country!
Best wishes
Sallyann Rogers, Tasmania
Dear Sir
The current series of TV advertisements regarding the impossibility of untaxed vehicles evading detection prompts me to write to you.
During the last four months a vehicle displaying a tax disc which expired in October 07, has taken to using the quiet residential close in which we live as a car park. Not only this, when residentsʼ cars are using the available spaces, it is parked on the pavement. The vehicle is driven in and out of the close at high speeds, sometimes in reverse, endangering the small children and old people who live here. The driver has also been observed using a mobile telephone.
Many of the residents have reported this to the local Community Police and the DVLA several times, but no action has been taken.
Has the driver and or owner been granted immunity?

Dear Editor
With reference to your delightful coverage of our very successful Annual New Year Lunch in the February edition of Phonebox Magazine, I would like to thank everyone who made this event such a happy occasion – to Mr Richard Stone for the catering and the committee of the Working Mens Club who give us their support and help. Our guests, for coming to share the afternoon with us, our President, Mr Roy Kitchener and his wife Christine, Mr Alan Richardson, Mrs Ann Harris and everyone who helps us in so many different ways to ensure the happy and smooth running of our Club.
This year we shall be celebrating 60 years of life and we have shared so many happy memories through the years. This would not have been possible without the hard work of very many people over the years – without the willing dedication of a very good committee, an organisation such as ours could not function. The existing committee of our Club is without doubt one of the very best, working tirelessly for the benefit of our fellow members in so many different ways.
We are very happy to welcome new members to come along and join us on a Friday afternoon at the Working Mens Club at 2pm. I can assure you of a very warm reception, from the members and Committee.
With sincere thanks and our kindest regards to all our friends in Olney.
Yours sincerely
Pam Morgan, Secretary to Olney Senior Citizens Club
