Homeless cats find a place to live –
thanks to Phonebox Magazine
Five feral cats have been re-homed after spending more than a year at Milton Keynes & North Bucks RSPCA – and it’s all thanks to Phonebox Magazine.
Jane and Richard Lousada, the new
owners of Hunters Lodge Boarding
Kennels in Stoke Goldington, noticed the
article ‘Rescue me’ in the Phonebox and
realised they were in an excellent position
to give five cats a new home. The Lousadas had plently of land, and a barn with a shed in it.
Richard said: “I’ve been amazed how easy it’s been. They are no trouble at all. All five cats seem very happy and have settled in well. They have hay bales in the barn and different level shelves in the shed where they sleep. Hunting seems a particular favourite past time!”
Unfortunately feral cats are difficult to re-home. Unlike regular domestic cats they are happier without human companionship and prefer outdoor homes, i.e., farms, small holdings or anywhere with a little outdoor space. Feral cats also require access to shelter like a shed or a barn and need feeding once or twice a day. Contrary to popular belief, feral cats still depend on people for food. Only very few can survive on hunting alone.
Milton Keynes & North Bucks RSPCA want to thank Phonebox Magazine and its readers for their support in 2007, as well as wish everybody a happy Christmas and prosperous 2008.
