Olney Town Firework Night November 3rd
Hi folks, I would just like to say a few words of thanks to all of you that supported the Olney Town Fireworks night on Saturday 3rd November. As you may be aware this was The Olney Group’s (TOG) largest project thus far, and what a success it was! Dynamic fireworks did us proud with an excellent twenty minute display, and I have heard many people remark that it was the best display in Olney yet. Several people have commented to me on how marvellous it was to see the balloon glowing in the dark. Thanks to our friends at the Great Escape Ballooning company for arranging that!
The sports clubs joined in with the spirit of the evening, exemplified by our Mayor who single handed manned the Bowls Club bar! It has to be said that without the help of the Bowls and Cricket Clubs we would have been struggling to man the event, both in terms of the entrances, and perimeter security. The generous gift by the Rugby Club of the use of their excellent lights on the Charity Field ensured that we moved a very large number of people in safely, always a headache at events like this. And without the presence of our own Town St John team we could not possibly stage such an event. A word of thanks must go to the local shops who sell the tickets prior to the event, they do so every year willingly, and this does help to ease the pressure on the night at the gates.

Our main sponsor Stephen Oakley Estate Agents did us proud in helping us not only with the excellent signs around the Town, but with the enthusiasm that Stephen himself exudes for the annual event. This town needs more public spirited people like you sir!
As for the TOG team, well I’m chuffed to bits with you guys, you pulled all the stops out for this event and it showed! (I believe that there may be a picture or two of some worn out TOG bods at the end of the evening – somewhere in this publication).
Finally a word of thanks to Elaine and the Court for organising the mulled wine, which I know (hic!) went down very well.
I hope that I have not missed anybody out in this round of thanks, and apologise now if I have, because everyone who put in the effort did it for you...The Townsfolk of Olney.
Dave Price, TOG Leader
P.S. Father Christmas will be joining us on Dickens Day. (Reindeers under strict instructions not to overdo festive celebrations this year!)
