Autumn Ball raises much needed funds!
Stoke Goldington Pre-School’s Autumn Ball held last month at The Mitchell Hall, Cranfield proved to be a huge success, raising over £1,700. The funds will be divided between the Pre-School and the First School.
Over 110 guests attended the sparkling black tie Dinner Dance and after a 3-course meal they danced the night away to the sounds of a live jazz band with Terry Lightfoot. Guests contributed over £500 to the raffle which featured some fantastic prizes ranging from a meal for two at the Black Horse, Woburn to a family ticket to Gambado, Milton Keynes. A casino proved to be a popular form of after dinner entertainment with several guests trying their hand on the tables at blackjack and roulette.
The Ball organisers would like to thank all the companies and individuals who generously supported their event via sponsorship and by donating raffle prizes. Our sponsors were Marcus Jordan & Co; Gardner & White; first4blinds; Hilary Brock Taxis; Des Griffiths Independent Motor Engineer; Hunters Lodge Country Boarding Kennels; the Co-op Supermarket, Olney; Burcote Wood Farm Business Park; Dolphin Laundry; Activity Land; Simply Beauty; Toddler Time and N. J. Lovell Master Thatcher. q
If you would like your child to attend Stoke Goldington Pre-School (sessions every weekday morning 9.15am-12.15pm) ring chairman Elly Sapwell on 01908-551175.
Celebrations in Stoke Goldington First School
On 8 November Stoke Goldington resident Cynthia Angliss was 90 years old. On Friday Cynthia visited the village First School as part of her birthday celebrations.
Cynthia attended the school herself as a pupil and when she retired from working life came back to the village. Cynthia began coming into school regularly to hear children read and has been doing so for over 21 years!!
The children were thrilled to be able to present Cynthia with a fantastic card and enormous chocolate cake (which they all helped to make and eat!!) and to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her!! Of course, Cynthia just had to hear some children read before she went home!! q
