Olney Town Football Club
Foxes Football Night
Friday 21st September was the ‘bar night’ for the Foxes Squad (team pictured right). The attendance was fantastic with players’ parents, brothers and sisters all watching the squad session before the bar night began. The evening gave us all the opportunity to meet our new sponsors, Cafe Rosco. Owners Dianne and Simon Horrocks (pictured below) presented the Foxes with their new kit and provided food for the evening, an excellent spread. We thank them and wish them all the best with the opening of their new shop due to open in the town in the near future.
The squad session was followed by some expert penalty taking advice from members of Olney FC first team and reserve squads. A penalty competition for the adults ended with, Tim Mason,
Olney first team player winning (rumours that Olney’s goalkeeper let him win are wholly unfounded!). The children meanwhile enjoyed kids TV on the big screen with Table Tennis and Pool also providing entertainment.
As part of the Olney Town
Colts commitment to Olney
Football Club, the 16 Colts
football teams open and
run the bar each Friday
evening for members
(interested in joining? Read
on) it is not only a social event for the players and parents but it is a much needed revenue stream that helps with the Football Club.
The 16 Colts squads now have a membership of 230 players with an age range from the Foxes team (five years old) all the way through to under 16, all coached by qualified FA coaches. If you have a son or daughter interested in joining the teams, or are interested in taking the level 1 FA coaching certificate, or would just like information on becoming a social member at the club please email enquiries@otcfc.co.uk.
A big thanks to Tim Mason, Andrew Greenway, Gary Brown, Chris Waugh and
Peter Saker for giving up their time to show the children some penalty taking tips – best of luck for the season. Thanks also to Toni from Weston Studios Photography who photographed the whole event and continues to support the Colts.
Finally, I would like to thank all the parents, brothers and sisters who turned up to support the club and help run this event along with Cafe Rosco. Without this effort and the backing of the sponsors that are listed in this article it would be almost impossible to run Olney Town Colts Football Club.
Hope to see you soon.
Richard Finch, Coach Foxes Squad
