Olney Bowling Club
The club held its centenary AGM on Sunday 26th November. It was very well attended, proving that the club has the enthusiasm to continue to enjoy its highly respected place in Bowling’s hierarchy.
John Smail, our president, chaired the meeting and was also elected, unopposed, as club secretary. Other officers of the club and committee members were elected by secret ballot.
The results were: Mens’ captain – Gerald Wilson, Ladies’ captain – Anne Clifton, Committee – Mike Richardson, Jean Wilson, Ian Cox.
Three committee members are replaced by Roy after having served for three years but are nonetheless eligible for re-election. The treasurer reported that the club is in a sound financial position. The bar profits have increased under the stewardship of Roy Mallen and thanks to it being open every Friday evenings during the winter. Roy was given a well deserved vote of thanks.
Subscriptions were set at £54 for 2007. The meeting was closed at 11am. n
