Over 100 children from Olney and Carlton joined 20 Olney adults on Sunday 11th June for their very first grading examination at Olney Middle School.
“The standard was extremely high and amongst the best I have seen for many years”, said Shihan John van Weenen 8th Dan, chief Instructor of the Traditional Association of Shotokan
karate.
He also made the following comment:
“Since karate began, only three months ago,
at Olney First School, Olney Middle School
and Olney Health and Fitness, there has
been a noticeable difference in the
children’s focus, not only at school, but also
in other areas of their lives. Without a doubt,
this is the result of emphasis being placed on etiquette, discipline, respect and integrity. The response from everyone has been nothing short of remarkable. I’m very grateful.
