News from Lavendon School
Our children in years 5, 6, and 7 have been on a four day residential visit to the Kingswood Centre in Staffordshire. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The activities were exciting and for some children quite challenging! Here is a short excerpt from Emma Davies’ (Class 4) report on the visit. “The first activity was rock climbing, whilst my group were climbing, another group were playing aeroball, also we had zip wire; the tower was 42 feet high, it was frightening at first, but then it feels like you are flying!” Most children who went on the visit had exciting stories to tell, and there were even rumours that a late night or two may have been enjoyed!!

Cycling Proficiency Course
Twenty children from the school are taking part in cycling proficiency training, organised by Northampton- shire County Council. In addition to giving basic road skills and manoeuvres, the course includes how to check if your bike is roadworthy, and is the first stage in promoting a positive attitude towards safer cycling. d

The summer term is always busy at school, and this year is no exception. We are holding a fundraising Ladies Night 14th June – all ladies welcome to come along for an evening of pampering. We will have several local experts who will give treatments such as Reflexology, Manicures, advice on make-up and hair colouring, and local shops selling clothes and jewellery. There will be smoothies and wine to drink, entrance is £5 including your first drink free, and 15 minute treatment sessions. 6.30pm to 9.30pm in the School hall.
We are planning to enter a ladies team in the Olney Raft Race on June 25th, and will also have a stall on the day. Come along and cheer us on.
For all children and parents, we will be having an End of Term Bash – with food and music to celebrate reaching the end of the school year.
Looking forward to next academic year, we are planning to hold a ‘Penny Mile’ on Saturday 17th September. This is where we mark out a 1 mile route around the village, and ask people to bring their own pennies, or we can sell them to you, to place along the mile.
And finally, you may have heard that Robbie Williams is coming to Milton Keynes Bowl in September, but for those of you who did not manage to get tickets, there will be a Robbie tribute artist coming to the Village Hall on Saturday October 7th.
