After a hard fought match on Finals day, Gilpin ladies beat Stony Stratford ladies on their home ground to regain possession of the
Finals day but without John Swallow and Dave
Rawlinson they lost to Stony Stratford I by five sets to three. They have, however, retained their title of champions of Division I for the tenth successive year. This year also saw the return of Chris Soul to competitive tennis. He partnered Andrew
in a mens match against Wolverton and won all four sets. Individual achievements in 2005 include Liz Murdoch representing Bucks ladies 35+ at Eastbourne, Jenny Prior playing for Beds in the county
championships and Norman Church) winning both the singles and men( ) doubles at the South of England veterans championships. Dave Rawlinson and
Andrew Soul continue to represent their respective counties of Beds and Bucks in the 45+ competition.
So, another successful summer season for Gilpin.
Thanks to the teams: Liz Murdoch and Jenny Prior (whose e orts helped us to win the knockout Cup), Kathy Danskin, Angela Redgewell, Val Howes (who we
hope recovers quickly from a shoulder operation), new team member Bridget Watsona and Sue Soul.
The mens team: John Swallow, Dave Rawlinson, Norman Church, Terry Mabbitt, Tony Woolf, Alex Chernick, Chris and Andrew Soul. •
