Bosworth tops The Telegraph local league table
Makes it into the Top 100 schools in England
Principal Fiona Pocock is proud to report that Bosworth Independent College has achieved a top 100 placement in The Telegraph for the Top 100 Secondary Schools by A-level Results 2015 which also places us as the number one school in the
Northamptonshire league table.
To put this into context there are 4,322 schools/colleges currently in the Post 16 category in England according to the Department for Education, so to achieve a top 100 placement is no easy task and places us in the top 2 per cent of A-level schools in England.
Bosworth is essentially a non-selective college and our success at A-level re ects a high standard of teaching and dedication across the college and to rank 96th is extremely rewarding. For students this academic rigour coupled with a comfortable day and boarding environment allows them to thrive in its culture of achievement. www.telegraph.co.uk/education/leaguetables/12111015/A-level-school- league-tables-2015-compare-your-schools-performance.html www.telegraph.co.uk/education/leaguetables/12109997/Top-100- secondary-schools-by-A-level-results-2015.html

Students from Moulton College rolled up their sleeves for some practical experience when they visited White Mills Marina in Earls Barton in
Northamptonshire.
The students who are currently studying Level 3 Diploma in Arboriculture linked up with White Mills Marina after being invited to take part in a competition to come up with a landscaping plan that would be sympathetic to the local environment and at the same time attract as many different species of wildlife and water fowl to the new facility on the River Nene.
Not only did the students plant over 100 metres of hedging on their initial visit, but John Skinner from White Mills took the opportunity to announce the winners of the competition launched earlier this year. He was so impressed with the work and effort 78 Phonebox Magazine | April 2016

This month Years 1 & 2 are visiting the
National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham to tie in with this term’s topic ‘Commotion in the Ocean.’ They will visit the attraction for the day together with their friends from Stoke Goldington’s partnership School, North Crawley CE First School.

that had gone into entries that in the end there were two joint winners, Al e Henmen and Andrew Baillie.
“Having the opportunity to shape the landscape of a new marina is not an everyday occurrence, so when Moulton College agreed to get involved with the competition we were
thrilled. There were some excellent entries but in the end there were two de nite winners. We are now looking forward to implementing some elements from both of the winning designs. The lads all worked very hard indeed yesterday, they were a great bunch and I am glad to say they have agreed to come back to gain some additional experience in the not too distant future.” Commented John. Moulton College Course lecturer Stephen Bassford added, “For our students to actually get out in the eld and gain some practical experience is invaluable, we were more than happy to link up with White Mills Marina to create some designs and come on site and help with some initial planting. It was a very successful and productive day, and we will all be very keen to watch how the landscaping of White Mills Marina develops over the coming months.”
