Newport Pagnell Carnival
Like us, you might have been wondering just how the Carnival Committee are going to match the glitz and glamour of 2015. We had not one, not two, but three(!) celebrities. And a world record-breaking strongman. And his world record-breaking mate. Well, stay tuned because in next month’s edition we’re going to announce 2016’s entertainment and we think once again, we’ve pulled it out of the bag (if we do say so ourselves).
In the meantime, shake a leg, get your skates on and step on it because parade entries are open, classic and vintage car parade and show entries are open, stall applications are open and ‘big’ duck race entries are, you guessed it, open. Visit www. newportpagnellcarnival.com for everything you need to know and more!
And nally, calling all 5-11 year olds – we need your artistic talents. Enter the ‘Design the 2016 Newport Pagnell Carnival Programme Front Cover’ competition, to be in with a chance of having your artwork showcased on the must-have programme of the summer. Visit our website for full information. We know we spoil you but you’re oh so worth it!

The World Championships will take place in Glasgow in August, while the European Championships take place in Germany in November.
Dancevybz founder Stephanie Massey added: “As street dance becomes increasingly popular as a form of dance, it gets more and more competitive. So it is no mean feat for so many of our dancers to have quali ed at the highest international level. I’m incredibly proud of our dancers and our teachers, they are all incredibly passionate
and committed, training week in and week out, with smiles on their faces. We are excited to have the opportunity to represent both Bedfordshire and the UK in the competitions later this year.”
The Bedford Jazz Festival
Conscia Jazz, the Bedford based jazz promotion and education company, are delighted to announce that the ‘Conscia Jazz Presents: The Bedford Jazz Festival 2016’ is set to take place over the weekend of the 19th of March.
Over the two-day period, there will be around 20 different acts at four different venues in the town centre, including The Quarry Theatre, The Corn Exchange and The Pavilion Café. A big feature in this year’s festival is the ‘Main Stage’ being held at The Quarry Theatre, with four acts between midday and 4.45pm on both days. As well as being able to buy tickets for each individual event, there are also ‘Main Stage Passes’ available for each day. These allow you to go to all four events on the ‘Main Stage’ on that given day with one ticket; at £29 for adults and £21 for students.
An addition to this year’s festival is a community stage. This is designed to give local musicians a chance to perform, and will be free entry for the public. As well as the community stage, there will also be a couple of fringe events, including the film ‘High Society’, in partnership with ‘The Bedford Film Festival’, and a ‘Jazz at the Park’ event. For more information regarding which acts are performing, ticket prices and more, please go to www.conscia.org.
