Editorial
REFUGEES, asylum seekers, or economic migrants, it is a problem differentiating who is who. But one thing is for certain, there are a lot of people in crisis in the world and possibly their only means of survival or providing for their families is to get out of the country of their residence or birth. The migration that is happening in the world today has not been seen for many years, and the cause of it was very similar to that of today – inhumanity and war. There seems to be no easy solution, if there is a true solution at all. But one thing we can do is help. And local man John van Weenen has organised a group called Olney Aid to do just that. Read about him and the way you can help inside the magazine. If anyone needs any help or advice on how to organise their own fundraising please contact John.
It is hoped this local group will expand into a network of local groups to assist and work with other like-minded people who wish to help various charities and causes that need our help.
So far Souls have offered a storage facility for items donated towards Olney Aid, Wards of Olney have offered a vehicle to take the donations to Calais and as I write the Co-op in Olney have offered their support. Go to page 10 to find out more about this humanitarian cause.
